Gingerbread House Competition

Outdoor Recreation and Solomon Center are teaming up for a Family Gingerbread House design and build competition. Families are invited to design and build a gingerbread house from either scratch or from one of the provided kits for the chance to win and have their Gingerbread House announced at the Garrison Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 2!

Register and pick up your free Gingerbread kits from The Solomon Center, Outdoor Recreation, and the library starting November 1 while supplies last. Full rules and requirements will be given upon registration. All completed Gingerbread Houses will be turned in at the Solomon Center no later than November 28 to be entered into the final judging. Water Aerobics

Water group exercise designed for Special population uses modified moves for individuals who may have limitations such as: hip replacement, poor circulation, pregnant, etc.  Since these classes are slower, they are also great for Seniors. (Special populations, seniors)

This workshop focuses on Relationships and Communication, Stress Management,  and Financial Management. This is a Military Family Appreciation Month Event.

Circuit Training

Cardio drills laced with muscle conditioning exercises that are timed.  Goal is to work cardio and conditioning at a moderate to high pace.  All levels – Coleman Gym & Facebook LIVE

The combining of boxing aerobics, jump rope training, resistance balls, drills, plyometrics and body weight exercises that tone the body.  An excellent total body workout without bulking up.

Military Family Appreciation Month Clothing Swap

Bring in the clothes you no longer want or need to the Recycling Center. Men’s, women’s, and children's clothing is accepted.  Clothes must be clean, free of tears and stains, and in good used condition. Bring your items 10:30-11 a.m. on Nov. 30 for sorting. Beginning at 11:30 a.m. swap them for something else! You will be given one ticket for each item you bring.  “Pay” for your selections with your tickets  (1 ticket per item). Any items remaining at 1:30 p.m. may be claimed without tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. All unclaimed items will be donated.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5- 7 p.m., Patriots’ Park. This annual holiday celebration features artificial snow play area, ice carving demonstration, children’s activities, holiday music, and food trucks. And most importantly, a visit from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Dec. 3: Holiday Shopping trip to Concord, NC, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., meet at and return to Marion Street Station. Hate the hustle and bustle of Charlotte traffic? Let Outdoor Recreation take care of that for you! Join us for a shopping trip to Concord Mills in Concord, NC to get your holiday shopping done! Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride and then shop ‘til you drop. For $20 ODR will drive you there and then back so you can enjoy your shopping without the hassle of driving!
